About Arise & Shine Family Nuturing Program
Many Immigrants and Refugee children and families experience resettlement stress as they try to make a new life for themselves. Many families struggle to make ends meet, often Immigrant and Refugee children are consequently responsible for taking care of their younger siblings, while the parents struggle with trying to get the make ends meet. This is due but not limited to: Financial stressors, Language barriers, Difficulties finding adequate housing, Difficulties finding employment, Loss of community support, Lack of access to resources and Transportation difficulties. These challenges expose Immigrant and Refugee children to delinquency. It is believed Juvenile delinquency and youth Crime happen more in areas where children feel they must commit crimes to prosper. Theft and similar crimes may actually be a result of necessity and not that of just a petty crime. Though Family Nurturing Program we provide full family services to support Immigrant and Refugee families to make sure that children from these communities have access to what they need and understand that they do not have to commit a crime to get ahead in life.

Senior Literacy
Most of our African immigrant and refugee families come from countries where English is a 2nd, 3rd language or not spoken at all.

Immigrants and Refugees’ backgrounds may vary based on their country and region of origin, but at some point, they share same experience of having to leave their home counties,
